Ching-ching

There’s been a lot of press about “Law & Order: Los Angeles,” which I haven’t seen yet, but tonight BBC America premieres “Law & Order: UK,” which I’m curious to see. Apparently, in some cases the show (produced for British audiences, with BBC America as an afterthought) will use re-worked scripts from the dear departed “Law & Order: Original Recipe.”

Fans of science fiction TV will note that one of the detectives is Jamie Bamber — Apollo from “Battlestar Galactica” — and one of the prosecutors is Freema Agyeman — Martha from “Doctor Who.” It sounds strange to hear Bamber speaking in his actual British accent; you realize he did a masterful job of hiding it on BSG.

They do not use the “L&O” theme music, but the familiar “ching-ching” sound is used for scene changes.

Sure, it’s a promo. But it’s entertaining anyway.

What lasts about 20 minutes and features the following celebrities oohing and ahhhing over their favorite TV show?

  • S. Epatha Merkerson (who admits she says “frak” a lot) and Jesse L. Martin from “Law & Order: Original Recipe”
  • Scott Ian of Anthrax
  • The producers (including Seth Green) of “Robot Chicken”
  • Brad Paisley, who admits he sometimes wasn’t concentrating during Friday concerts because he was worried about getting in front of a TV to watch the latest episode
  • Joss Whedon of “Buffy” and “Firefly,” who says the producers sometimes amaze him even when he’s analyzing the story with his formidable storytelling ability
  • Joel McHale of “The Soup”

Find out after the jump.
