I found out tonight I have the role of Chives, the butler, in “Dr. Jeckyll … No Place To Hyde,” a farce that will be presented by the South Of Broadway Players the last weekend in October and the first weekend of November.
It is, judging from the excerpts we read during tryouts, a funny role, with nearly as many lines as Henry Jeckyll, and I think it will be loads of fun to play.
The play will be presented at Mel’s (formerly Fifties and Fiddles), just off the square in Shelbyville. It will be a dinner theater production, but the show will probably be ticketed separately and you can order a meal, if desired, off the regular Mel’s menu (burgers, hot dogs, chicken strip basket, salad, appetizers, etc.). I will get you more specific information as soon as I have it.
We’ll have our first readthrough on Sunday, Sept. 1, capping off what is shaping up to be a ridiculous weekend for me. I will stay up late on Saturday the 31st covering the World Grand Championship class at the Celebration, then I will get up Sunday morning and drive to Monteagle to speak at Morton Memorial UMC, then rush back to Shelbyville for the read-through!
