Crafty

As I blogged yesterday, I was relieved to find the little red tags my mother had knitted for me. But as I looked at them, I wondered the best way to secure them to the luggage. Mom had left loose ends of yarn, but that didn’t seem like it would be very secure, given the handling that luggage receives.

So I came up with a solution. I bought luggage tags today at Walmart, along with something I’d wanted for years but never owned: a hot glue gun. (I used one years ago while assisting in a puppetry workshop at Mountain T.O.P. Kaleidoscope.) There was space on the display rack at Walmart for both red and black luggage tags, but they were out of black — the only color left was red, and it was pretty much the same shade of red my mother had used for the tags.

So I glued each of the knitted rectagles to the back of a luggage tag, where they will be much more secure but will still serve their intended purpose.

Pretty cool for a guy who isn’t especially crafty.
