Sabbath

I’ve been sort of wrung out this evening. Not sure why, other than that it was a busy week followed by a busy weekend. I went to the Hal Ketchum concert last night — which was great, but I haven’t blogged about it because I figured I’d just link to my newspaper article once it gets published.

This morning, I drove to Nashville to speak at my friend Beth Martin’s Sunday School class. The class is focusing on mission this month and I showed them a DVD slide show of my past Kenya trips. Beth had promised me lunch in return for this, and so she, her charming daughter M., a friend of hers and I went to California Pizza Kitchen in Green Hills. I had a carne asada pizza, which was terrific. The only other CPK I’d been to was in Hollywood, during the last time I visited my brother and sister-in-law in Southern California before they moved back east.

Anyway, I’ve just been out of sorts this evening — not sick or anything, just tired.

Last week was busy with both regular work assignments and training for our new computer system. When I arrive at work tomorrow morning, if I understand correctly, there will be two computers on my desk — the old one and the new one. Monday’s paper will be the last to be written and paginated with the old system. Tomorrow afternoon, once we get that day’s paper out, we’ll transfer everything we need to the new system — including a lot of stories written over the past week for an upcoming special section — and begin using the new system to put together Tuesday’s paper. It should be another busy week as we work out all the kinks.
