Flat on my face

Several of us from the Times-Gazette have begun taking a midday walk. It’s a great, brisk half-hour walk, from the newspaper down to the Shelbyville greenway along the Duck River and back. I have been trying to go as often as I can, although I had a midday appointment today and will have another one tomorrow. It is a very brisk walk and I sometimes fall behind the group during the last third of it.

Yesterday, we were heading down the sidewalk of South Jefferson street, next to the graveyard behind First Baptist Church. There was a curb cut in the sidewalk, and I was involved in a breathless conversation — hard to talk and walk that quickly. I wasn’t paying attention, and I tripped on the curb cut and fell flat on my face.

Fortunately, my glasses slid down my nose but stayed on my face; they’d have been badly scratched by the sidewalk otherwise. My knees and one elbow got banged up, but most of what got hurt was my pride. The knees are still a little sore to the touch today, but they don’t seem to be injured in any serious way.

Anyway, it gave me something to blog about tonight. :)
