Creativity stood still

I am pretty sure there’s no actual need for a remake of one of the best science fiction movies ever made, “The Day The Earth Stood Still.” But that’s never stopped Hollywood. Anyway, Keanu Reeves is playing Klaatu. That sort of makes sense; Michael Rennie was very restrained in his performance, and Keanu will get to show his normal emotional range of A to B (well, he almost makes it to B). Now there’s a rumor that John Cleese is going to take the part of Dr. Barnhardt.

I guess I can reserve judgment on the movie; I just don’t see the need to remake it. Why not come up with some original story instead?

  • Obviously, they want to reintroduce this classic to the younger generations who have never heard of it. Making a wad of money might fit into the equation too...

It doesn't sound very hopeful to me.
