I carry a badge

File this under the heading of occasional goofy purchases: I have ordered a Badge-A-Minit starter kit.

Back in the day, when I was active in Student Association at Famous Televangelist University, I got the SA to order a nice Badge-A-Minit machine (a larger and heavier tabletop model, not like the handheld press I ordered today). We made name badges for all of the SA chairmen and student senators. I enjoyed playing with the machine and always thought it would be fun to own one, even if it was the small, hand-held model.

A few months ago, I was at their web site and got on the mailing list. This week, I decided to take the plunge and buy the starter kit, which is on sale for less than half its normal price. I know it sounds like a ridiculous purchase, but I can make name tags for the next mission trip team I’m on, or gifts for my nieces and nephews, or badges to promote the symphony concert, or that sort of thing. I’ve even found some other sources (like this one and this one) that sell the badge parts more cheaply than Badge-A-Minit.

Yes, I admit it. It’s a goofy purchase. I don’t care.

  • OK, I don't think it's goofy. We have a badge kit here (Discovery Kids, I think) that Santa brought one of the girls last year...and every now and then we get it out and have a BALL with it! I like it as much as the girls do. It's a cheap one, though, and doesn't do a great job...it's more for entertainment than anything else in this house! :)
