Breathe wrong

I find that Breathe Right strips, those little plastic wonders that hold your nose open, improve my sleep and help me breathe easier.

But they are an expense, and I was happy a while back to begin seeing store brand equivalents. The first I tried was from Walgreens, and even though they had a slightly different shape they worked fine — and were a dollar or two cheaper than the Breathe Right product.

So far, so good. But then I found an even cheaper alternative, Clear Passage, at Wal-Mart. They are even less expensive, especially since they come 40 to a box instead of 30. But my experience with Clear Passage has been universally negative. Even though I wash my face as with any of the products, and I follow Clear Passage’s additional direction to hold the strip in place for 20 seconds, I have never — not once — had the Clear Passage strips stay in place all through the night. Usually, they come loose before I’ve even gotten to sleep. I guess it’s possible that I just got a faulty box, but I’m not going to spend any money to find out.

Tonight, even though I have half a box of the Clear Passage strips left, I went back to Walgreens for their store brand. However, the Breathe Right strips were on sale — only a penny more than the regular price of the Walgreens store brand. So I went back to that, at least for this box.

  • i use strips on occasions. not sure what type they are.. i might have to compare now
  • Often you can get your money back on a product if you call the manufacturer and complain. Not sure if it's worth the bother to you or not.
