Small world

I have aunts and uncles from both sides of the family in Louisville, Ky. (Here is a great magazine article about the aunt and uncle and cousins on my father’s side.) I also have a friend from college who lives there, Louisville Courier-Journal religion writer Peter Smith. I hadn’t talked to Peter in ages, so I tried to call him a few days ago. He and his wife Holly and their daughter had been traveling for the holidays, so he didn’t get the message until they returned, and he called me back this morning.

We had a great conversation, and in the course of it I told him that my mother would be headed for Louisville next summer for her 50-year high school reunion. I also mentioned the name of the high school, Atherton.

He laughed. Out of the two dozen public high schools in Louisville, guess which one Holly teaches at?
