Giancarlo Guerrero will be the new music director for the Nashville Symphony, although he won’t take on the title or the full-time responsibilities until the 2009-2010 season.

Guerrero is a native of Costa Rica. I’m not schooled enough in classical music to be familiar with him, but it sounds from the symphony’s press release as if the search committee had a lot of confidence in him.

Maybe he’ll get to come to our Shelbyville concert some time.
