Bueller … Bueller … Darwin … Bueller ….

I found several interesting items either in, or linked to from, Christianity Today’s movie blog:

  • Ben Stein, the Nixon speechwriter / author / professor / actor / game show host / commercial pitchman, has a new documentary in which he comes to the defense of scientists who support “intelligent design,” saying they have been unfairly discriminated against by the rest of the scientific community.
I consider myself a theistic evolutionist — I believe that God used natural processes to create the physical structure of life on earth, although at some point I believe humankind was given a spiritual nature distinct from its biological cousins. But I am also in favor of diversity of expression and freedom of debate.
  • Following the success of “The Passion of the Christ,” movie marketers began aggressively pursuing the church market. But some experts say they haven’t been able to replicate that success and may have scared secular viewers away from certain movies in the process.
Interestingly enough, although the T-G is too small to rate screeners from most movie studios, we have gotten some from FoxFaith, including “The Ultimate Gift,” which I enjoyed.
  • It looks like there will be a sequel of sorts to one of my all-time favorite movies, “Chariots of Fire.”
