Well, I was at the Sounds game last week and missed the premiere of SciFi’s new “Flash Gordon.” It was roundly panned, but even so I watched the second episode this week.

I actually liked it. I agree with those who said that the cast and crew are in on the joke. It’s not supposed to be “Battlestar Galactica” (not the Edward James Olmos version, anyway); it’s a fun, escapist romp, very similar in spirit to the original serials.

SciFi has been using the fun Queen single from the bad 1980s movie to promote the show, but it’s heard on the actual show only for a few seconds during the closing credits.
