Ready to write
Before I do anything else, let me thank my sister-in-law for filling in here. She did a great job, and really seems to have enjoyed it. She’s setting up her own blog and you can expect a link and a heads-up here as soon as she’s ready.
I slept in a little this morning, but not really as long as one would expect, given how late I got to bed last night. I did laundry this morning. I got ready to start writing my stories for the newspaper, but OpenOffice.org said an upgrade was available. I started the upgrade, and it was crawling along at dial-up speeds (I knew from other things I had done that the problem wasn’t my own connection). So I put off the writing and spent the day over at my parents’ house. My youngest brother and his family are in the process of moving to Bedford County, and they’re spending a few days at my parents’ house while getting everything connected and set up at the new place.
Now, I’m home –and about to start writing. Most of my major storytelling mojo about the trip will go into those newspaper stories, which I will link to here as they go up on the T-G web site. I will also post some sidelight stories in this space if they don’t fit into the regular series.
The long and the short of it is that this was a trip with some challenges — many of which Debra said are typical for a first LEAMIS trip into a new county. I think we accomplished some things, and hope that God will bless whatever we did, but there were times during the trip when I really questioned what I was doing there. And then, of course, we had our odyssey of delay getting home.
Thanks to all of you for your prayers, kind thoughts and kind words.
