Short notice, I know, but I forgot to mention it earlier:
CBS tonight is running an all-new updated version of the American Film Institute’s coundown of the 100 greatest movies. The original “100 Years, 100 Movies” ran nearly a decade ago — can it have been that long? And since then, they’ve run a similar top-100 countdown each year: “100 Years, 100 Stars,” “100 Years, 100 Thrills,” “100 Years, 100 Laughs” and so on. This year, they’re going back and updating the original list.
No one is ever going to completely agree with one of these “all-time greatest” lists, but they’re fun to argue about, and the AFI specials are particularly well-done, with great clips and interviews.
