My boithday

Well, there oughtta be a law against having to work so many hours on your birthday.

I left with the School Board members at 6:15 a.m. for the fact-finding mission about standardized school attire. I did get a birthday meal; we stopped at O’Charleys for a late lunch, and they told the waitress it was my birthday, so I got a free slice of their terrific caramel pie.

We got home about 4 p.m., and I went ahead and wrote the story today, from home, while it was all still fresh in my mind. By the time I got through, it was almost time to go cover the county financial management committee (at 6:15 p.m.) and then the full county commission (at 7 p.m.). Fortunately, commission meeting was unusually short.

I will celebrate my birthday with my family on Sunday, along with our celebration of Mother’s Day. Dad will grill hamburgers, and he and my niece and nephew will clean up afterward so Mom doesn’t have to.
