Hope all of you had a nice Easter. I did.
First UMC decided not to have sunrise service outside after all; everyone came back to the church and they were out in the fellowship hall worshipping while we were in the kitchen making breakfast.
My sister-in-law from La Vergne and the boys came down for the regular 11 a.m. service, and my parents took us all out to eat afterward. We went back to my parents’ house, where my father was in a mood to watch his old VHS tape of 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. It had been years since I’ve watched it all the way through. It really is a great movie.
I was telling everyone that the lost childhood possession I would most like to have back is a wonderful annotated copy of the book by Jules Verne. It had marginal notes explaining, for example, any unusual fish or aquatic plants mentioned in the text, or pointing out instances in which Verne predicted the invention of some device that wouldn’t exist in real life for decades. I loved that book.
