This week’s “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me!” was another good one. The show was on the road in Aspen, Colo., and they had the husband-wife team of Robert Wagner and Jill St. John as guests for the “Not My Job” game. This is the first time I’ve ever heard them have two people for “Not My Job.”
I’d never heard the story about Robert Wagner getting his first studio job by caddying for Clark Gable before. Wagner and St. John were good sports, even when the topic of the game turned out to be questions about Battle Mountain, Nev., the town which was deemed “the armpit of America” by Washington Post columnist (and Dave Barry’s former editor) Gene Weingarten. Wagner was asked about his role in the “Austin Powers” movies and made the self-deprecating joke about how the summit of his career involves being known as “Number Two.”
The show is available at the web site linked above; actually, I normally hear the show on-line and today was the first time in weeks I’ve actually listened the old-fashioned way, on the radio.
