A gender gap

Here is an incredibly troubling story about a growing gender imbalance in India, where it’s considered more desirable to have sons than daughters — so much so that tragic action is often taken to prevent female births.

I found the story through a post at GetReligion, a site which critiques mainstream media coverage of religious issues. GetReligion asks whether this is more likely to cause outrage among liberals (from a feminist standpoint) or conservatives (from a pro-life standpoint). The fact of the matter is, we should all be horrified, regardless of our politics.
