My nephew James was picked out of the crowd by clown Tom Dougherty at this morning’s performance of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Gold Unit circus in Shelbyville. It was a fantastic show. The Gold Unit is designed for smaller markets and venues, but it has all the flash and professionalism of the Red and Blue units which play major arenas. If you’re a fan of “The Amazing Race,” you may remember “the clowns,” a popular and good-natured team from one of the early seasons. Jon Weiss, one of the clowns, is co-host of the Gold Unit circus.
