You may recall that I had tickets for “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” but tonight’s taping of that show was canceled. So I had given up on seeing a TV taping this time around.
Then, as Mike and I were finishing up at Hollywood and Highland, we looked directly across the street and saw the El Capitan Theatre, where “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” is taped. I knew from my online research that there were not supposed to be any available tickets, but Mike encouraged me to ask again just in case. Jack Black and Kyle Gass, a/k/a “Tenacious D,” were the guests. We asked and were told that there was a standby line, and that normally there would be spaces for at least some of the stand-by audience members.
Mike and I got in line. We were second and third in line, and we stood there for two hours. At one point, I even checked my camera (you aren’t allowed to take cameras into the taping). But in the end, we were told that no standby members would be admitted.
I was so grateful to my brother for putting up with this.
