Well, I had not really been aware of Mat Kearney before reading that he was scheduled for Friday’s “Late Late Show.” The song that plays when you click on his web site is pleasant enough.

Anyway, I bought some batteries for my digital camera in preparation for the trip and they came with a free download from the Wal-Mart music store. I was browsing the categories and clicked on “Christian,” where one of the top artists to download was listed as being …. Mat Kearney.

That piqued my interest, and I found this interview with him at the Christianity Today web site. Now I really am disappointed I won’t get to see him.

He’s still listed as appearing on Friday’s Ferguson show — as best I can tell, they’re apparently going to tape all the segments for Friday’s show on other nights. He’s also going to be on the Leno show on Thursday, but a) it’s already booked, b) Thursday doesn’t work for my brother and sister-in-law, and c) being such a die-hard Letterman fan, I’m not sure I could bring myself to attend a Leno taping.

I did use my free download to get one of his songs, and I like it.
