Keeping it in the strictest confidence

Closed circuit to our Middle Tennessee readers:

Gee, you would think that NewsChannel 5 would let people know that they’re doing their newscast in high definition, or that the radar is in high definition, or that they’re the first and only Tennessee station doing their newscast in high definition.

Did I mention that they’re doing their newscasts in high definition? I thought it was important that someone mention it, because it’s possible that you might watch NewsChannel 5 for less than 10 seconds, in which case it’s possible — though not likely — that you might miss some mention of the fact.

  • “John Galt”

Their promos said the premier newscast would follow the Super Bowl.

Not so…as you are probably aware.

They were live HD Saturday morning and every live broadcast since then.

You gotta admit, the WOW factor is huge.

Actually the premeire was on Friday night. It looks incredible, and I’m almost positive that if any other local station in Nashville spent $12 million to go hight def, they’d probably tell you about it early and often.

Weird! A commenter at NIT wrote the exact same comment, word for word, that “John Galt” did. The commenter at my place, though, was named News 2 Me. Either we’ve got ourselves a sockpuppet or someone is plagiarizing.

I’ve been amused by the pompous, self-promoting nature of the commercials, esp. the one about the new weather center.

“We did it for you..to save your life in case armageddon occurs.”
