Safari over

I have never carried any illusions that what short-term mission trip participants do correlates to what long-term missionaries do. By the same token, I obviously think there’s value in short-term trips.

I do not think I would be very good as a long-term missionary.

Anyway, because of my past three years of Kenya trips, I’ve enjoyed reading Tim Hutchison’s posts at his blog, Mission Safari, about being a long-term medical missionary there. I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Tim, but I enjoyed reading his accounts of life in the world of medicine in Kenya. Now, it looks like Tim is coming home. That had to be a difficult decision; I can’t imagine what it must have been like to make it.

I appreciate Tim’s candor throughout his trip and in this difficult moment. He will be in my prayers.
