My last full day of wisdom

It’s been a quiet Sunday; I want to go ahead and get tomorrow over with.

I am having my right wisdom teeth extracted tomorrow morning by an oral surgeon in Murfreesboro. I had the left ones done several years ago, and that went fairly well, but you never know. Just reading the lengthy liability release gives one the willies. I will be sedated, just as I was last time. I remember the needle being put in my arm, and I remember the Rev. Ray Hartman helping me up and out to my car, but I don’t remember anything in between, and tomorrow should be the same. My father will take me to Murfreesboro this time. (The last time around, before he had retired, Dad had one of his parishoners in major surgery at the same time as my minor surgery. That’s why Ray ended up taking me, a generous act on his part.)

I have stocked up on pudding cups and Jell-O cups, and bananas, and I already had Slim-Fast on hand. I will take Aleve for the pain, and the doctor will also give me a prescription for pain medicine in case that doesn’t work. I will have ice on hand in case of swelling, and replacement gauze pads to bite on until the bleeding has stopped.

In my role as secretary of our church men’s club, I had to prepare two “get well” cards this morning for people who are going through real, serious health concerns. That sort of puts things in perspective, but I still hope things go well for me tomorrow. Keep me in prayer if you are so inclined.
