It’s a tradition in our family that on Thanksgiving, we help Mom by cracking various nuts which she will use in a week or two to make “nuts and bolts” (a/k/a Chex mix). Here, my brother Thomas lends a hand.

It was a nice Thanksgiving. My sister and her kids, my youngest brother, his wife and their boys, and my grandmother were all over at my parents’ house. The rest of the family — my brother and sister-in-law in California, plus their two children, one of whom I haven’t seen in person yet — will be in for Christmas.
