Trunk or treat

It’s been a long day but a fun one. I spent most of the morning — except for the hour when I was teaching Sunday School — in the kitchen at church. Our men’s club cooked a luncheon to help raise money for the youth.

After cooking and then washing dishes, I was pooped. I went home for an hour and then turned around and went back to church, where this evening we had a “trunk or treat” event for the children followed by a chili supper and pumpkin carving.

I got to carve a pumpkin for Lori and Roger Schuler’s little girl, which was fun — I can’t recall that I’ve ever actually carved one myself since I was a child.

I snagged some of the pumpkin seeds afterward so that I could take them home and toast them. I used cooking times and methods from Emeril’s recipe, but for seasoning I just used some seasoning salt which I’d bought this weekend — a brand I’d never tried before but which had a good flavor.

They turned out pretty well, except maybe a little tiny bit too brown.

I need to run my lines at some point this evening.
