Grounded

As a result of my last two Africa trips, I have enough frequent flyer miles to qualify for a round-trip airline ticket to see my brother, sister-in-law, nephew and niece in California.

At least, that’s what I thought.

After consulting with my brother and sister-in-law, we decided that President’s Day weekend would be a good time, due to Kelly having Monday off work. Last night, I went on the NWA web site and found an itinerary that would work within the number of frequent flyer miles in my account. I saved the itinerary in my account but did not actually book it.

This morning, I turned in my vacation request at work. I didn’t have my NWA login information with me, so after we got the paper to bed I went home to book the flight.

The itinerary I looked up and saved last night — last night! — is no longer available. The closest similar combination of flights costs more miles than I have in my account.

I will try some other combinations tonight, and also look at the MLK holiday weekend in January. Right now, however, I’m kind of bummed out.
