Play and Freeze

Play and Freeze

My youngest brother’s birthday was last week, but we celebrated it today. In the process of doing so, we used a gift that my other brother gave my father: the Play and Freeze Ice Cream Maker. This is a seriously cool product (pardon the pun). It’s a big plastic ball with two compartments — an inner chamber to hold your favorite homemade ice cream recipe, and an outer compartment to hold ice and rock salt. You load it up, and then agitate the ice cream by rolling the ball across the floor, as my nephews are demonstrating here, or shaking it. After 15 minutes, you scrape down the sides of the inner compartment, seal it back up and roll some more. The end product is authentic homemade ice cream.

Fun, huh?
