For 20 years, I’ve had various versions of the same occasional dream — I am back at my old college (which is named for a famous TV evangelist with whom I’ve long since parted company). I am clearly there as an adult, but I’m never sure why or what I’m supposed to be studying, and I’m slightly anxious that someone is going to find this out and make me leave.
Last night, I had the dream, but in an especially vivid fashion and in a way I’d never experienced before. It starts much like the other dreams, but then we’re all told that there will be a special chapel service. (ORU had mandatory midday chapel services on Wednesdays and Fridays.) I show up at the chapel and a famous Christian rock group is introduced. They start singing, and everyone in the room starts dancing and moving about in what seems to be a pre-rehearsed fashion. But I have no idea what to do, so I duck out into the lobby, which has been turned into a cafeteria. That’s about when I woke up.
