Grady Nutt spoke at chapel service every year when I was a student at Carson-Newman College in the late 70's. Each visit was memorable. Grady and Eleanor spoke together on one occasion. But the one that stands out the most is when some students planned and executed, in the middle of Grady's talk, flying a huge styrofoam airplane from the balcony of FBC. That plane soared like a big eagle all the way down to the pulpit area where Grady was standing, at a temporary loss for words! The laughter of the students hit a peak, and then Grady, trying to think what he would say in response to the prank, quickly quipped, "Now I get to practice forgiveness right here in front of you!!" We loved Grady and hung on his every word. His stories are still in our hearts. He was so much fun to know!

Since you live in Louisville, you probably have been surrounded with great stories about Grady. Trust me, none of them can be told with half the [pick any of a thousand different words here] that he had in telling a story. Your grandparents taught our Sunday School class when we lived there and hosted a baby shower for our daughter. His life continues to fill us with joy, smiles, and good stories. If you ever run out of stories about him, just email us for some more. <br>Sharon and Dan McNeil, Waco, Tx

Thank you all for the comments about my grandfather. I am 14 years old that lives in Louisville Ky. I was one of the many people who didn't get to meet this amazing man. And when I saw him on Hee Haw for 1 min. I cried for about 90 min. with my dad. Just about a week ago I went to Cresent Hill Baptist Church where he spent manny years. And at the very end of every service they sing the hym co wrote and my dad and I started to cry like 2 month old baby's. It took me about 5 min. to type this because i have to stop and wipe my tears every 15 seconds. MAY GOD BE WITH YOU ALL!

[...] Today, though, was special. Grady’s grandson e-mailed me and left a comment on this post. He thanked me and all those who commmented on the original post for their words about his grandfather. [...]
