The tooth will out

When I went for my normal dental cleaning a couple of months ago, there was bad news — I had to get two or three different things done. I guess I didn’t pay close enough attention, because I showed up today expecting a filling and got preparations for a crown. When we all realized that I will be leaving the country in less than two weeks, they asked the lab to return the crown no later than Aug. 8 — the day before I leave. I hope there’s no problem; I don’t want to go to Africa for two weeks still wearing the temporary.

Kudos to my dentist, Jay Davis, and his hard-working staff for getting me some toothbrushes and toothpaste to take to the people of Kenya. They had already exceeded their quota of such freebies for the year from their normal suppliers, but they worked the phones and got me some stuff to take anyhow.

Jay is a member of my Sunday School class and has also done medical missions to Mexico. He’s a great guy with a great attitude.
