Not quite ready for my closeup

I was almost on TV this evening.

I got an e-mail today from Jamey Tucker, the religion-beat reporter for WKRN in Nashville. Jamey had prepared a taped piece on Jars of Clay and their work raising money and awareness for AIDS in Africa. (They had done a “faith night” concert at a Nashville Sounds game last night.) Jamey has also seen enough of this blog to know that I am headed to Kenya. He was putting out several feelers for people who might do a live interview following his report on the 5 p.m. news, to talk about their own experience with Africa missions. Could I do a live telephone interview? I told him I’d be delighted.

However, one of his other calls paid off with someone closer to the WKRN studio, who could actually appear on camera with anchor Neil Orne. She did an outstanding job talking about her church’s mission efforts in Africa.

Jamey did leave open the possibility of talking to me about my trip at some point in the future.

    How neat!

We love Jars of Clay. They were at the Decatur Celebration last year so we got to see the in concert, about ten feet from the stage, for $10. :)
