Digital dreams

Walgreens opened earlier this month in Shelbyville. They’ve had a good price on a single-use camera which includes a coupon for a free photo CD.

I broke my digital camera during last year’s Kenya trip. Money’s been tight lately, and I haven’t had a good chance to replace it. I was hoping for something just slightly better than what I had.

But today, while picking up some photos at Walgreens that I had taken at the Mountain T.O.P. camp last night, I thought about how much I’d spent on film over the past few months. I’ve decided that I need to go ahead and spring for a modest, inexpensive digital camera. It probably won’t have enough optical zoom to do a good job with the wildlife when we do our debrief on the Kenya trip, but a reasonably-priced 3 or 4 megapixel point-and-shoot will be good enough for 99.9 percent of the personal photos I take, including my Mountain T.O.P. trip next month and the ministry portion of the Kenya trip (which is what I need to be focused on anyhoo).

Besides, I can always ask Kylene McDonald for copies of her photos from debrief, and she’s a phenomenal photographer.

I plan to go to Wal-Mart as soon as I leave work. Further details later tonight.

Oh, and I’ll see if they have a padded case so that I don’t break it this year.
