Rain, rain, go away

Well, it was a nice day, although not exactly the one I expected.

I did go to Dad’s church this morning, which I think he appreciated. After church, Mom, Dad, Elecia and the kids and I headed for the air show in Tullahoma. As we arrived, ominous clouds and a little lightning could be seen in the distance. We heard on the temporary low power FM station that had been set up for the show that the aerial acts had not begun yet — they were being delayed until the storm passed. At the time, they thought it was just an isolated storm.

We looked at one or two of the static displays before the rain hit. We scurried back to my parents’ van, and even though we had umbrellas we all got thoroughly soaked. We waited out the storm in the van — there was BB-sized hail — and then it finally seemed to be trailing off to a drizzle.

However, right around this time we noticed some people leaving. When we opened our windows, we found out why — they were announcing over the PA system that the air show had been called off. Apparently there was more thunderstorm activity on the way.

So we went to Fazoli’s for a some food and then headed on home to relax. Not the day we had planned, but we all had fun anyway.
