Don’t cry over chopped onions

Progressive Onion ChopperI bought an onion chopper today at Wal-Mart. Yes, I know it’s a kitchen gadget — a “unitasker,” as Alton Brown calls them. But I tried it today and it actually works as advertised. You put a small onion or half of a large onion onto the unit and close the lid on it, and you get nice, very finely chopped onion. And you can even tip the whole unit up on its end and there are lines to measure how much it contains. (This is useful for recipes that call for “1/2 cup chopped onion” instead of “one medium onion, chopped.”)

I may have to take it to men’s club breakfast at church tomorrow for use on the onion for our hash browns.

I simply must own one of these. I get paid this week and I already have the onions. I bought a mandoline last year that I never use because I’m so afraid of cutting myself and making a bloody mess. This think looks relatively harmless. Except to the onion ;~)

    Thanks for the heads up!
