A plague of comment spam

I went to look at Spam Karma today, and there’s apparently some new plague of comment spam. Fortunately, all 81 were caught by Spam Karma — nothing made it through to the actual blog — but this is 10 times more spam than I’ve ever had in a single day, or more. This could be a one-time occurrence, but if it’s the start of some new and aggressive wave of comment spam I may end up having to deactivate comments on the blog. I’ll keep you posted.

I hope not! While I haven’t gotten that many recently, it does seem to come in spurts on my blog. Generally some casino will spam over and over for a short period.

A ton of comment spam slipped through the Belmont University blog spam protection the last couple of days…we’re hoping that the blacklists catch up with the offenders, but for now it’s like a cold war of filtering.
