Another angry viewer

My previous comments about boycotts were not meant to imply that you shouldn’t get angry at the television or that you shouldn’t complain about its content. I only think that boycotts, and attempts to force the cancellation of popular shows, are a bad way to go about this.

Anyway, Katherine Coble is upset about some dialogue on tonight’s episode of “Lost” which she says misrepresents central points of Christian theology. (Warning — she puts a spoiler alert on her post, so don’t read it until after you’ve watched the episode.) I’ve never watched “Lost,” so I can’t add anything to the debate. But I applaud Katherine for her passion and for being an alert, critical viewer.

Wow. That was fast. ;-p I didn’t think anyone would even actually read that post, but it made me feel better to write it.

I’m not a big fan of boycotts–from what I’ve seen they do little more than energise people like my mother-in-law to send $5.00 to the boycott’s organiser. (If they’re for the right cause.)

I’m so not advocating a boycott of Lost. I just really wish that people would quit misunderstanding Christianity. Or at least stick to the Nicene Creed when writing dialogue for Christian characters.
