Zicam alert

I mentioned having awakened this morning with a sinus headache. An hour or two later, with the headache having only partially responded to Tylenol, I felt the tell-tale scratchiness at the back of the roof of my mouth which indicates that I am coming down with a cold.

I ran to Eckerd for some Zicam — which seemed to help, last time. It doesn’t keep you from getting a cold, but it seems to help with the length and severity of it. Now, at mid-afternoon, I’m feeling achy and wrung-out. I’ve just e-mailed regrets to Gavin, because I don’t think I’ll be driving to Nashville for the Mountain T.O.P. reunion / gathering / party tonight. I had really been looking forward to the event, which will be Ed Simmons’ first public appearance as executive director (although technically, he starts Sunday). I have to work a couple of hours tomorrow and I probably need to go home and rest tonight.

By the way, does anyone know whether there’s a difference in effectiveness among the various forms of Zicam they have now? I got the original gooey stuff you squirt into your nose, but they now have gum, and losenges, and swabs and a spray.
