A catastrophe in SimNation

SimCity 4 Deluxe EditionWell, I apparently cursed myself by posting that screen capture earlier.

An hour or two after that post, I was trying to figure out why my seaport wasn’t being used, and I tried to terraform around it so that I could make a better road connection (thinking that was the problem). I kept destroying the seaport and having to abandon my changes and go back to the last save point.

Well, then I did something stupid and tried to level Waterside, the city with the seaport, and start over. Then, when I went back to Ainsley, I tried to reconcile its terrain with Waterside’s and ended up wiping out half of Ainsley. Then I saved the game by mistake when I could have simply gone back to the most recent save point and undone the damage.

Anyway, the long and short of it is that Ainsley is no more. I have restarted the game. Gingerville is now on the terrain which, in our alternate universe, housed Ainsley.

I played the original Sim City and then the follow up version back in my Mac days. Addicting! I played Sims, too, but it’s a different animal entirely. Civilization is another addicting game you might like if you like Sim City.
