Your Obedient Servant is seen here holding a third-place award from the Inland Press Association’s Local News Writing Contest. A story I wrote back in April about Ted Lewis, a short-term missionary from Shelbyville, won third place in the category of personality / individual profile stories among newspapers with under 10,000 circulation.
I have placed in statewide competitions before, but this is the first time I’ve gotten an award like this from a national organization.
The awards were announced Oct. 24 at a breakfast in Chicago, although I was unable to attend. We waited to announce them in the T-G until my certificate arrived in the mail, which happened today. The photo will be in Sunday’s T-G.
