Comcastic

Cable television service here in Shelbyville is provided by Charter, but since Comcast is the cable provider in Nashville and its immediately surrounding counties we see a lot of their ads on the Nashville TV stations.

Being a game show fan, and a fan of the old Dick Clark “Pyramid” in all its various dollar values, I love Comcast’s new commercial. Footage from an old “Pyramid” bonus round with Loretta Swit as the celebrity partner has been redubbed and the categories replaced by special effects so that it’s all about “Things That Are Comcastic.” A nice, seamless execution of a clever concept.

We’re seeing these Comcastic ads in San Diego, too, where the company has a large facility. As far as I know, though, they don’t supply cable service here, unless Time Warner and/or Cox Cable are owned by Comcastic. It would’t surprise me. I don’t know who’s on first any more! And I thought the ad you describe was contemporary with a guy who looks like Woody Allen years ago. That’s Loretta Swit??!!
