Happily, Bill and Bobbie Joy and Frank Schroer, who missed their chance to attend the Celebration Monday night due to rain, will get to join me and Bob and Mary Margaret Willems tomorrow night.
I ended up getting more tickets than I thought I would be able to, and Bob and Mary Margaret’s son won’t be with them, so that enabled Bill and Bobbie and Frank to join the party.
The first time I got to introduce out-of-town guests to the Celebration was years ago, when my college friend Jon Troyer and his wife Anita happened to be passing through the area the week of the show and wanted to pay me a visit. They loved it, and when I talk to Jon he sometimes mentions wanting to see the show again some day.
It’s enough of a spectacle that you don’t have to be a die-hard horse fan to enjoy a taste of it. And we’ll be relaxed enough that if my guests want to leave early, we can; if they want to stay to the bitter end, we can do that too.
