I was supposed to host my LEAMIS teammates Bill J. and Frank S., and Bill’s wife, my former Kaleidoscope / Summer Plus pal Bobbie J., tonight at the Celebration. But it’s supposed to rain all evening, as Middle Tennessee braces for what’s left of Katrina, and we had to call off the outing.

I’m disappointed, of course — I’d really been looking forward to it — but it’s a relatively small inconvenience. Another teammate, Carolyn S., lives in Bay St. Louis, Miss., where she and her husband Dave have a lovely and brand new home close to the water. When I visited in June, they still didn’t have the curtains up.

There was a 22-foot storm surge at Bay St. Louis, and while I haven’t heard anything yet, I don’t see how their home could not have been affected. Dave was probably traveling anyway, and I’m sure Carolyn and Michelle were smart enough to get out of town, but this has to be devastating. Please keep them in your prayers.
