Frank Schroer is an associate missionary with LEAMIS and, prior to that, was the adult ministry home repair contractor for Mountain T.O.P. He was my roommate on both of my previous LEAMIS trips (actually, there were three of us rooming together last year), and I don’t know how I would have made it through the Nicaragua trip in 2003 without his friendship, support and his good example. I won’t get to work with Frank this year — he and Bob Willems will be leading the Nairobi team, while I will be a member of the Kisii team.
Frank’s brother Bill and sister-in-law Marilyn were also on our Kenya team last year. Bill is as gregarious as Frank is quiet, but both are men of God whom I love and respect.
I have gotten word that Frank and Bill’s father died yesterday. Frank and Bill were part of a quite large family. I never got the opportunity to meet their father, but if there’s any truth to the old saying that the acorn doesn’t fall far from the tree, he must have been a great man. Please keep the entire Schroer family in your prayers.
