Well, this is turning out to be a high-volume blogging day.
I posted an hour or two ago about some disturbing news from Kenya. Here’s some good news: LEAMIS has shared with the Kenya 2004 team members some excerpts from two e-mails sent in December by Pastor Paul Mbithi. One e-mail was sent before Paul and Grace took a team from their church to Kisii, in western Kenya, for a conference. The team from New Life Restoration Centre taught several of the cottage industry skills which we had taught them in August, including soap, candle, jam and jelly making. Pastor Paul reports that the training was very well received, and the followup reports since the conference have been good as well.
I like saying that so much, let me repeat it: New Life is passing along the cottage industry skills we taught them in August. God is blessing the work that was done, and expanding its impact to touch different corners of Kenya.
I have been in a post-holiday funk. There’s been stress at work, and I’ve felt particularly burnt out. I’m depressed about my finances, lonely, depressed about my weight and too often I give in to self-pity. But tonight, just when I needed it, came confirmation that something I was involved in (something I’mstill involved in, by the way, in case you’d like to contribute towards the 2005 trip) has been used by God in a mighty way. To God be the glory.
