And now, the bad news

When TTCS called yesterday, the message that got passed back to me was that my computer was “ready” — which I assumed meant “fixed.” And my contact out there was in a meeting when I stopped by to pick the unit up, so he wasn’t able to give me the bad news.

My computer’s motherboard is dying, and will have to be replaced.

TTCS instituted a temporary fix by changing the clock speed, but it’s only a matter of time now. I’m somewhat daunted by the prospect of installing a new motherboard, but it would obviously be a lot cheaper than a new computer, which I really can’t afford right now.
