I don’t know the original source, but the program “The Secret Life Of ….” on the Food Network tonight had a startling statistic. The most recognizable word on the planet, across linguistic barriers, is “OK.” OK; that’s not the surprise. Want to guess the second most recognizable word on the planet?

Coca-Cola.

Christianity is not a product, and there are numerous pitfalls in trying to market it as such, but still — there must be something we can learn from the fact that one particular brand of fizzy brown sugar water is known and enjoyed by people all over the planet — people who have quite different tastes in food and quite different lifestyles.

I’m just not sure what yet.
